Our midwifery services at My Yorkshire Midwife

Pregnancy is a transformative journey for women, culminating in the miracle of birth. It is crucial for mums-to-be to receive comprehensive care and support. My Yorkshire Midwife provides pregnancy care ensuring the health and wellbeing of both mother and baby, with regular check-ups, screening opportunities, and guidance on nutrition, exercise and lifestyle.

As birth approaches, we will discuss your birth preferences, enabling you to make informed choices about your baby's birth whether you choose to birth at home or in the hospital.

Once baby is born, postnatal care plays a crucial role in helping your recovery and adapting to your new role as parents. The care we provide includes monitoring physical and emotional health, providing breastfeeding support if required, and guidance on caring for your new baby. With the right support, you can confidently navigate this beautiful journey of pregnancy, birth, and post-birth, ensuring health and happiness for your new family unit. My Yorkshire Midwife can work alongside your NHS care, so you're not opting out - you're upgrading to true continuity of care.

With an average of up to three times as many visits, consultations and contact time with My Yorkshire Midwife than with your standard NHS care package you are investing in your pregnancy, birth, baby and your family in the future. Here's a comparison below;

When you are expecting your first baby you can expect contact with an NHS midwife at : 8-12 weeks, 16, 25, 28, 31, 34, 36, 38, 40, 41 and 42 weeks. Postnatally you will usually have contact from a midwife on your first day at home - either a phone call or a visit, day 3, day 5 and day 10-14 before care is handed to the health visiting team.

With your second or subsequent baby you usually have less contact with an NHS midwife : 8-12 weeks, 16, 28, 34, 38, 41 weeks. Postnatally usually on days 3, 5 and 10 before care is handed to the health visitors.

When you choose private care at My Yorkshire Midwife, you will have appointments between 8-12 weeks, then at 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 and 41 weeks regardless of whether this is your first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth baby... we believe you still need support and input regardless of how many babies you have had. The schedule of postnatal care is equally generous with visits to you on days 1, 2, 3, 5, 7,10,14, 21, 28, up to day 42 if so needed, before handing care to the health visiting team. And, of course, we are always here on the phone when you need us!

So, as you can see - our care really is incomparable to NHS care, just think of us as a 'bolt on' with proven improved outcomes because of true continuity.
